If you have every tried honey cake I cant believe it was just once. There are many recipes which are not so simple and take a lot of time. We ha a simplified version of this favorite, which you can now bake at home and as always its gluten free.
For the cake
2 packets of Novalim gingerbread mix
4 tbls honey
100 g vegetable oil
120 ml warm water
For the filling
300 ml milk
4 tbls corn flour
100 g sugar
250 g butter
1 vanilla sugar
220 g chopped walnuts
80 g powder sugar
120 g butter
3 tbls honey
Melted the vegetable fat and honey and pour into the two packs of gingerbread mix then work into an evan mix., it will take about 5 minutes. Wrap in foil and allowed to rest in the fridge overnight (minimum of 2 hours). During this time the dough matures well and the individual flavors are nicely mixed.
The next day split the dough into three parts and roll out on baking paper to thickness of about 7 mm in the shape of a rectangle. Place on an oven tray and bake at 170 C for 15 minutes. Do this for tow of the three dough rectangles.
For the walnut mixture, mix chopped nuts, honey, butter and sugar in a pan and fry until golden. Apply the hot mixture to the surface of the third sheet and together they bake at 170 degrees for 15 minutes.
Custard cream to cook porridge with milk, starch and vanilla sugar. Let it cool and when cool custard mix Mix the butter and sugar until smooth cream.
